Lord, even when our faith is weak and small, we sometimes puff up with spiritual arrogance, expecting thanks for everything we do around here. When we teach Sunday school, we want recognition; when we prepare a meal, serve the poor, visit the sick, give clothes to the naked and shelter to the homeless, we sometimes secretly want our good works known. We know it‘s only our duty as Christians, but we sometimes want to earn our way into heaven in the eyes of our sisters and brothers. We confess our spiritual pride and know that only you can weigh and measure our souls. Forgive us; we are your faithful servant people. Amen.
