Lord God of Creation, you have promised that you will never leave us; but how quickly we turn from you and from each other! We are content to let our goodness and our worship remain theoretical. Lord God, let the sickness be healed, the death wish go from us, and the people come alive again. Let your word of hope sound in the cities and the voice of your mercy comfort the towns. Make us all teachable, that we may learn again and again what things come first, what truths endure, what actions are worthy of your grace. Give us this day your daily bread, joy and vision; and so we pray for all; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
