Someone once said, “You can’t know who you are if you don’t know from where you have come.”  We truly are what we remember.  In order to become better acquainted with our church family I’m hosting several “Listening Parties” to provide me with an opportunity to hear from you and learn about our church. The parties are very helpful for a number of reasons:

1. First, they provide me with invaluable information on our church’s history and some of the stressful events that have affected the emotional life of our church family.
2. Second, the parties provide a constructive opportunity for members of the congregation to express their concerns and hopes for Trinity church.
3. Third, the listening parties can be cathartic for some members as a first step toward healing.
4. Finally, the parties provide the members a healthy, safe venue to connect with me and each other in the church and feel more comfortable with differences.

After I complete the listening parties I hope to begin constructing an emotional history of the past 30 years of the church and put together a genogram of our church family with some observations based on family systems theory.  If you would like me to hold additional listening parties please let me know.
