The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for anyone or depend on man.
Micah 5:7
The prophet Micah foresaw a time when the remnant of Israel would be a blessing to the whole world just as dew brings blessings to the grass of the fields. Of course, this was always God’s intention for Israel when God told Abraham, “and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you (Gen. 12:3b).” As Christians, we believe that this promise was fulfilled when Jesus came into the world and made it possible for “Everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13).” And we as Christians represent Jesus through our words and our deeds to everyone we encounter. As Jesus’s people we are meant to be a blessing to “many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass…” So, when people encounter us, do they perceive us as a blessing? Do they see and hear the blessings of God through our words and actions? Israel was called to refresh the world. As the spiritual remnant of Jacob, do we?
“Gracious God, we thank you that your Son Jesus has brought great refreshment to the world. Help us to live as your people who continue to bring refreshment through the compassionate mercies of Christ.”

- What are some ways in this time of physical distancing that we can be a blessing to others?
- Jesus once told his disciples, “You are the light of the world, you are the salt of the earth.” We live in a very challenging time when people are struggling with the darkness of discouragement and depression. How can we bring light to their darkness and become a blessing to those who are struggling emotionally and spiritually?
